Mission & Philosophy
It is our mission to support non-profit organizations that are striving to keep rainforests standing — the first step in the fight against climate change. We believe that global warming is one of the most serious threats facing the world today. Scientists agree that the future of a warmer climate will affect the biodiversity of the habitats of the tropical forests, and it is incumbent upon all of us to do whatever we can to help stop deforestation.
While scientists debate the future of our tropical forests they relate the following facts:
- Protecting these biologically rich habitats is key to combating climate change today.
- Razing of the rain forests releases vast amounts of carbon that are stored in the trees and soil.
- Global warming is the single biggest threat to wildlife today.
- Global warming pollution must be reduced by 80% by 2050 to avoid the most serious impacts of global warming.
- To reach the 80% goal we must reduce pollution by 2% every year for the next 40 years.
- 32 million acres of tropical forest are still being destroyed every year, the equivalent of about 50 football fields a minute.
